Maryellen comes to the Acorn team with over 25 years of public accounting experience. Over the years, Maryellen has developed her tax expertise in multiple sectors, but specializes in individual income and small business tax preparation and planning. As Acorn’s authority on tax research, Maryellen provides advice on accounting, taxation, and various other small business planning issues, as well as bookkeeping services to our client base.
Prior to joining Acorn, Maryellen worked at an accounting firm in Oakton that was later absorbed by a larger firm in McLean. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Science Taxation from Robert Morris University.
Maryellen lives in Oakton, Virginia with her husband Mark. In her spare time she enjoys walking her dog, June, and spending summers days with her 4 grandchildren in the Outer Banks, North Carolina.
DeAnna supervises the tax team on identifying and solving complex tax issues for personal and corporate tax clients, ensuring a smooth transition from strategy to execution. As a liaison between Acorn’s team of experts and our valued clients, she ensures you are receiving proactive tax planning and creative business and advisory solutions throughout the year. DeAnna assumes responsibility for the smooth flow of tax preparation by communicating status updates between staff and clients. She also focuses on growing and developing the organization’s team of tax professionals and drives the development of new business.
In her spare time, DeAnna enjoys adventures with her family, spending time outdoors, playing pickleball, and cooking dishes inspired by her travels.
Christine Oldfield is an Enrolled Agent and the dedicated Senior Tax Advisor and Manager for Acorn. She is experienced in the intricacies of tax preparation for individuals, small businesses, non-profits, trusts and estates. 20 years ago she started as an office manager in a tax practice and quickly moved up to be a tax professional and eventually obtain her EA. Christine is passionate about ensuring clients understand their tax situation and how to plan financially throughout the year to take advantage of tax-saving opportunities. Served on the board for Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents. Outside of work you can find Christine with her husband, Tyler, and her 3 sons, Luke, Zeke and JT, usually on a baseball or soccer field playing, assisting coaching, or watching her boys play.
Jeremy joined the Acorn team in August of 2024 as a tax advisor. As a CPA with several years of experience in tax accounting and auditing, he is passionate about delivering comprehensive service to clients for all their accounting needs, including proactive tax planning and tax return preparation.
Jeremy graduated from James Madison University in 2018 where he majored in accounting. He decided to major in accounting because of his interest in finance and solving technical problems.
Jeremy resides in Annandale, VA and in his free time enjoys playing music and video games.
